Denkmann Elementary is furthering their school mission statement of using the 7 Habits to Learn, Lead and Succeed by implementing a new program called LEAD that all students will get to attend.

 

The LEAD program – Learn, Enrich And Discover – is aimed at developing creativity, promoting critical thinking, enhancing higher order thinking skills, preparing for college and career readiness and engaging students in hands-on-learning experiences.

 

Courses such as Engineering (provided by the Putnam Museum), Circuitry (provided by the Putnam Museum), Cooking (provided by HyVee Rock Island), and Art (provided by the FIGGE) are a few of the possibilities. 

 

All 6^th graders go on a college tour and visit Western Illinois University – Quad Cities, Black Hawk College, Augustana College and Scott Community College. Students are also exposed to career paths in the construction and building trades. 

 

LEAD Time will take place once a quarter.
